Stocking
The stock of a gun is what most people notice first when they look at a gun, therefor, it is essential for a quality gun to have a quality stock. This process is what sparked Louie’s true passion for gunmaking and is where he excels. It is what he served his Purdey apprenticeship in, completing it in three years, what would on average take five. Louie strives for perfection in every stock he produces, no matter the name on the gun.
Completely made by hand, Louie uses age old techniques - from smoke blacking using a paraffin lamp, to traditional planes, chisels and gouges to provide perfect fits, beautiful shapes and proper strength. Turkish Walnut is the species of wood used, chosen for its combination of strength, beauty and workability, a blank can be found to suit any taste and budget. All stocks are made to the client’s specific measurements, Length of pull, Bend/drop and Cast to ensure the gun fits like a glove and allows the perfect gun mount every time. There are many specifications to choose from to make a stock exactly how you want it, whether it be straight hand, Pistol grip, cheek piece, Gold oval or family crest, all can all be catered for.
